The statue of David was the first major work of Michaelangelo which he completed at age 24. Two things surprised the citezens of Florence when it was revealed. One it was 15 feet tall and it was the biggest statue they had ever seen. The size is truly impressive. Two, it was commissioned as the statue of David and Goliath but there's no Goliath.
