Plaster Cast

One of the unique things about Pompeii is that the volcanic ash covered everything up instantly. While the items decomposed, they left a cavity. An archeologist figured out that he could inject plaster into the cavities and you would get a replica of whatever was there (a person, dog, etc...). Here is a plaster cast of a sliding door.
